About

The Sussex County Department of Libraries strives to support the public libraries in Sussex County to ensure free and equal access to library services and information resources according to current laws and regulations. The Sussex County Department of Libraries seeks to provide and maintain an automated library system, a delivery system, on-site service and training to support library services. The Sussex County Department of Libraries may also provide consultation, support, leadership and development, professional collection resources, and assistance with professional library concerns such as budgeting, cataloging, acquisitions, facilities, and programming so that the Sussex County libraries meet the informational, recreational, and educational needs of current and future customers within their communities.

Sussex County Department of Libraries can borrow materials from libraries across the nation that are not available through the Delaware Library Catalog. The OCLC Interlibrary Loan service extends the reach of our libraries beyond Delaware to participating libraries of the United States. In this manner, we are able to provide patrons the information they need, whether from our collections or elsewhere. The Sussex County Department of Libraries processes 75-100 requests a month for interlibrary loans.
