Bookmobile Service

As an outreach program of the Sussex County Department of Libraries, the Bookmobile provides public library materials and services to area individuals in residential facilities, schools, and daycares who would otherwise have limited access to these valuable community resources.

The Bookmobile staff offers materials relevant to the changing needs of the patrons and county. The staff encourages the positive aspects of recreational as well as educational reading for life long readers in an informal learning environment. Designed to meet the needs of all age groups and interests, this "mobile library" carries a wide variety of popular fiction and nonfictions books in hardcover, paperback, and large print formats, videos, audio-cassettes, books on tape, CDs, DVDs, and magazines.

The Bookmobile operates as an integral part of the library system. Insofar as possible, registration, circulation, and other procedures will be consistent with practices of other libraries in the system.

The Bookmobile is equipped with a wheelchair lift for easier accessibility..

Sussex County Bookmobile Regulations

Cancellations and Delays

Inclement weather or mechanical problems may force delays or cancellations. If the Bookmobile is delayed or off the road, patrons will be notified by phone.

Schedule

The Bookmobile tries to maintain a regular schedule arranged to provide service to the largest number of facilities, as efficiently as possible.

1. The Bookmobile will maintain a regular schedule of stops every three weeks.

2. Bookmobile stops will be of sufficient length to permit borrowers to select and check out books without undue haste while on the Bookmobile or at a lobby stop.

3. Requests to establish new Bookmobile stops will be considered on the basis of location, facility, and type of service offered.
